That’s how ArtiTree came to be
The idea to develop a high-quality, lifelike artificial Christmas tree came to us at Christmas 2022.
In 2023, we founded ArtiTree and sold our first ArtiTree. A busy and exciting year.
The story of the two cousins Jan & Björn goes back a long way, to the roots of their childhood, when they spent every Christmas side by side at their grandparents’ home. The traditional rituals, the glow of the lights, and the scent of treats shaped their idea of magical Christmas holidays surrounded by family. These beautiful memories created a bond between them and the festive season, forever.
But in 2022, their enthusiasm for beautiful, festive Christmases was dampened. They were looking for an artificial Christmas tree for their own home that matched their vision and requirements. But they couldn’t find one and were disappointed.
That’s when the two decided to develop a high-quality, lifelike artificial tree.
Together with Michael, a local grower and supplier of Christmas trees, Jan & Björn brought ArtiTree to life.
At a casual get-together over a cold beer, they shared their vision with him. Michael’s deep connection to real Christmas trees initially seemed to make a joint artificial tree project difficult. But as it turned out, Michael had also been looking into artificial Christmas trees, because some of his
long-standing customers can unfortunately no longer buy a
real tree due to allergies or asthma.
Michael now wanted to help ensure that all Christmas lovers could put up a beautiful Christmas tree, whether real or artificial. His expert knowledge and experience with real Christmas trees would undoubtedly be very useful for product development.
Together, they decided to develop a high-quality artificial Christmas tree that combines the benefits of “both worlds”: the look and feel of a real tree and the durability of an artificial tree.
During the development phase, many designs and samples were created to optimize the product. Numerous adjustments and even discarded ideas were part of the process. The choice of plastic was made quickly: PE instead of PVC. One of the results of the product development was a reinforced treetop that allows Christmas decorations to be attached with ease. And thanks to a bark-look covering, the tree trunk looks very realistic.
In addition, practical accessories were developed and included with every tree: a wooden stand and a storage bag.
Jan & Björn showed great patience and perseverance during this time. They did not let various difficulties and setbacks discourage them. Long nights were just as much a part of it as weekend work. Their laptop and smartphone were their constant companions. ArtiTree was always on their minds.
By then, it was no longer just about product development, but gradually also about other topics such as sustainability, sales, marketing, and logistics.
In 2023, ArtiTree GmbH was founded - with Jan & Björn as managing directors and Michael as authorized signatory - and the ArtiTree brand was registered.
But ArtiTree is more than a company and a brand. ArtiTree is a team of Christmas lovers for whom it is Christmas all year round. And ArtiTree is a festive way of life that makes the Christmas season even more beautiful.
